Hier ein paar Infos für Interessierte:

Citroën wants to be present on the foreign markets, in the first instance in the French colonies as also indirectly in the search for oilfields in the Sahara, which are at the root of this car. Christened Saharienne, the car is revealed to the media in March 1958. But it was better known as the 2CV 4x4 or 2CV Sahara. 694 2CV 4x4 SAHARA were built.
Based on an original 2 CV a second engine with gearbox was fitted in the rear, where normally the trunk was foreseen. As such this 2nd engine unit drives the rear wheels, making it a 4x4 car. Due to the fitting of this second engine various modifications were called for: the fuel tank is replaced by two other cells of 15 litres each, slotted in under the front seats, with filling through the front car doors, spare wheel embedded on the font bonnet, additional ventilation inlets in the rear quarters, opening of the rear bonnet allowing for air cooling, rear wheel arches widened allowing for the fitting of two gearboxes and a hydraulic clutch.
